In the meeting of 8/21/12, we had three guests including Hedy, Hannah from Germany and our speaker, Luisa Breen. Luisa spoke about the needs of the town and upcoming concerns regarding how foreclosures may effect everyone in our community because they effect property values. She also spoke about The Roof Project - a program that connects people who are having difficulties with their mortgages or are facing foreclosure by connecting them with attorneys and housing specialists that can help to inrterpret paperwork.
She also discussed ways the Rotary Club can continue to help Social Services in North Branford. In the last year, we donated $750.00 towards fuel and we also donated 20 $25 gift cards to help support families in purchasing school supplies. In addition, we have in the past, adopted families for holidays providing Thanksgiving dinners and/or Christmas dinners and gifts for families. There is also a Toys for Tots program for parents and for seniors to provide them with gifts to give to their grandchildren.
Our Ambassadorial Scholar, Hannah joined the meeting this week. She has just arrived to New Haven and will be attending the Yale School of Art.
